I have over 2 decades experience as a proffesionally trained landscaper. I specialize in the proper pruning and care of your plants. I attended college in Burnaby to become a Licensed Technician, have worked for the largest company in Western Canada as there youngest supervisor at that time, then followed that up with 5 years of training under a master pruner until the day he retired. At that point I went out on my own.
Only a very small amount of landscapers, even many of the biggest and well known companies in your area have less experience in properly pruning plants then you would assume. If all you hear is hedge trimmers going the entire time.... well your plants are very likely being damaged and or slowly killed. What I see most often is every plant in the yard being done in 1 service, which most likely results in two things. Plants pruned completley improperly and/or plants meant to be sheared but at the wrong time and having every flower that's supposed to bloom later this year or even next year sheared off befor you ever enjoy them. I've heard too many times to believe "I did not even know these flowered!"
For those of you interested in learning how to not just properly prune your fruit trees or hydrengeas, rhodos, Japanese maples, anything that dosnt involve having a hedge trimmer taken to them, but also when to prune them what to look out for, and in many cases how we are going to fix what's been done to them. Anything to do with your plants and the state they are in. I offer on-site hands on lessons. You spend the day working right beside me learning why I do all the little things proffesionals do while getting to practice and learn how to take care of your own plants like an experienced gardener.
Everyone uses the lessons slightly different. Whether you want to get your yardwork done while learning how to properly take care of it yourself as my team cleans up behind us, or we can spend every minute doing exactly what it is you want to focus on learning and you can have your kids clean up and haul it away yourself everything is tailored to you.
Every level is welcome from beginner home gardeners wanting to learn the basics to experienced commercial landscapers wanting to increase there skill set and learn why a handpruners are the most essential tool on your truck.
As well as the hands on approach I offer written plans. It's up to you if you want this as an extra to go with your lesson to help remember everything we went over, or if all you want is a walk around while I take account of everything you have and a write up of how to properly take care of everything it's all up to you.
Lessons are available all year but this is a great time to start as while they are dormant this is when the cate of your plants should start . Whether for you or someone you know a simple email is all thats needed to get started
