Guitars: Sound, Chrome & Stars by Graham Kempster and Steve Hackett
This is the ideal coffee table book for guitar enthusiasts. From the Fender Stratocaster to the Gibson ES-335, the big format enables the amazing aesthetic qualities of guitars to be shown off to best effect. With informative and fascinating sections on the different types of guitars, the distinctive sounds, and the guitars of the stars, alongside stunning photography, it is a treat for any music fan.
Steve Hackett abandoned his plans for a career as a harmonica player when he joined Genesis in late 1971. His complex and distinctive playing became an inspiration to many aspiring musicians and was an unmistakable trademark of the `classic' Genesis line-up. He has since achieved consistent solo success internationally and is perhaps unique in earning the admiration of both rock contemporaries and leading classical players. Graham Kempster trained as an illustrator, but had two great passions - photography and guitars. While photography became his profession, guitars and acoustic music have remained a lifelong interest. His first serious guitar was an Epiphone Texan, but Martin guitars have always been the preferred instruments, a 000-28 being the current favourite.
