Hi Everyone,
I have been working my dogs through Sue Ailsby's Training Levels programs for the last few weeks and thought I would pass it along to you as I am finding it useful to keep me on track with training.
It's a great program for owners who want to solve some behavior problems, learn to shape a well-behaved pet or create a skilled competitor.
Of course, it can also be sued with cats and other animals too! (There is a cat that has completed level 2!)
The first three parts available for free:
1. Sue Ailsby's Training levels website
http://www.dragonflyllama.com/%20DOGS/%20Dog1/levels.html
(This page describes in detail how to train each behavior to the level required and states the specific behavior required for testing)
2. Yahoo groups discussion/support group
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/traininglevels/
(offers support to anyone working through the program-friendly and helpful crowd)
3. Training tracker
http://levels.nybble.net/ (This is where you can keep track of your training sessions and what your dog has accomplished) If you click on a dog's name when you get to the site, then Scoreboard you'll see their current training/testing status.
4. There is a DVD available from Vicky O'Connor (Langley, BC) that filmed the testing of the first three levels at a seminar for people to get an idea of what it looks like. (optional)
Also here is the website with some related training videos. Some are better than others.
